State Representative "Pedro" Marin responds to Eco-Force member's concern!

January 20, 2009

Re: The Use of Plastic Bags

Dear Miles:

Thank you so much for your letter and your interest in saving our environment. If everyone had the interest and showed the initiative you have, the world would be a much better place to live. I assure you that I will support our newly elected president, follow his green initiatives and do everything I can on the state and personal level to ensure my behavior is eco-friendly.

Thanks again for your letter. Study hard and do well in school and maybe one day you'll be making the decisions to keep Georgia clean and safe.

Best Regards,

Pete "Pedro" Marin
State District 96

  1. This is fantastic. It takes work from dedicated moms like you to start making a difference and raising our kids with awareness. May I ask what you are doing with the pouches after you save and wash them?

  2. Thank you pink and green mama! Actually, a dedicated mom from Craig Elementary School is spearheading the pouch recovery project through Craig Eco-Force club. The club is selling the cleaned pouches back to the manufacturers in an effort to raise money for some of their green projects. Isn't that cool!

  3. Hi! Thanks for your interest Pink&Green Mama! We send them to a company called Terracycle. They convert the pouches into reuseable totebags, backpacks and other cool stuff. Check them out at www.terracycle.net. The kids work really hard with this program. It's amazing to think that they've basically saved over 4000 pouches from our landfills!
